Shad Valley Experience

Shad Valley is a four week summer enrichment program. Students spend a month living in residence at one of our host university campuses across Canada. The program is offered to students currently completing grade 10, 11 or 12, Quebec secondaire IV, V or CEGEP I, or the international equivalent.With a focus that includes the sciences, technology and entrepreneurship, the program provides an academically stimulating, mind expanding adventure for top well-rounded students. Students will also enjoy recreational activities and the opportunity to explore local attractions. For over 29 years, Shad Valley has provided over 11,000 students with some of the most challenge, fun and inspiration they’ve ever experienced, a network of friends and connections for life, and a competitive advantage in planning their future.

National Science and Tech Week is next week and it kicks off with Funfest on Sunday.
WHAT: Science FunFest in celebration of National Science and Technology Week
WHERE: Natural Resources Canada’s Booth Street Complex (at Carling Avenue) and the Experimental Farm (at Carling Avenue and Maple Drive)
WHEN: Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Science FunFest is an open house at Natural Resources Canada’s Booth Street Complex and at the Experimental Farm, where kids and their families can enjoy exciting exhibits and free activities from several government departments and partners. Explore energy-efficient cars, go on a chocolate chip cookie mining expedition, pan for gold, learn about minerals in your life, bring rocks and fossils for identification, and much more. Students in grades 5-12 are invited to enter A&E's 'LIVES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE' ESSAY CONTEST [formerly the 'BIOGRAPHY® OF THE YEAR ESSAY CONTEST'] by writing and submitting an original essay in 300 words or less on who they think made the greatest impact on Canadian society in 2009. [Note: contest void in Quebec]
Each entry must include the student's name, complete address, postal code, telephone number, age, grade, name of teacher, school, school address, and local cable system (if known). Don't Delay! Send entries to: LIVES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE ESSAY CONTEST, c/o Temple Scott Associates, 250 The Esplanade, Suite 301, Toronto, Ontario M5A 1J2. Contest ends December 15, 2009.
Two winners from each grade level â€" 5th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade â€" will be selected.
