Enrichment: Deep River Science Academy (incl co-op)

Summer Science Immersion for Youth
during July and August for s ix weeks
The Deep River Science Academy offers an opportunity for interested science students to explore their
talents in research. The Deep River Science Academy (DRSA) is currently accepting students for
the 2010 summer program, but spots are limited, so it is important for students to submit their
applications as soon as possible. Students can download an application form on‐line at www.drsa.ca.
We offer a unique experience for students to participate in an enriching science immersion program
while at the same time enjoying the memorable experiences of a summer residential program.
• the DRSA is a 6 week summer program for high school students, who have completed a grade 10
science credit
• students work on cutting‐edge research projects in world‐class laboratories with
state‐of‐the‐art equipment
• research projects are offered in biology, chemistry, physics and earth sciences
• students work in “research teams” consisting of a professional scientist, a
university student and two high school students
• the DRSA is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education for Ontario. Students
successfully completing the program will earn 2 high school co‐op credits to be
applied to their high school academic record
• students live in beautiful Lodge accommodations and participate in a full recreational
program
The DRSA is one of Canada’s oldest summer enrichment programs. We offer the benefits of a small
campus with a student‐teacher ratio of 2 to 1.
