Ottawa Regional Science Fair

The purpose of this note is to inform you that this year’s Ottawa Regional Science Fair will be held on Saturday April 10th, 2010 at Hillcrest High School, 1900 Dauphin Road in Ottawa. (Set up will take place on Friday April 9 from 4:00 to 6:30 PM.)

Each year approximately 300 of Ottawa’s top science students from grade 7 to 12 participate in the Ottawa Regional Science Fair. During this one-day event, students have the opportunity to interact with science professionals while they are judged, interact with fellow students who share common interests, as well as attend the Awards Ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

Numerous awards (including cash and scholarships) are available to the participants, with the grand prizes being expense paid trips for one week to attend the prestigious Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF). In 2009, the ORSF sent 11 competitors to the CWSF where they won 15 awards including 3 silvers and 4 honourable mentions worth more that $11,000. The Ottawa region has a long standing history of success at the CWSF. The 2010 Canada-Wide Science Fair is being held in Peterborough Ontario. This event, which takes place in a different Canadian city each year, attracted over 450 of Canada’s top science students to Ottawa from the regional fairs across the country in May 2008.

Registration must be completed on–line following the instructions provided on our web site: www.orsf.ca.

Additional details can be found on our web site: www.orsf.ca.
